October 20th was the end. The end of sports for 2024 for fans of the Mets and Jets. That night, the Mets were knocked out of the playoffs after losing to the Dodgers. At nearly the same time, the Jets fell to 2-5, basically ending any hope they have of doing anything positive this football season.

“What Jeff Watched?” you ask. Well, it won’t be the Mets on SNY very soon. YouTube TV is doing away with the main channel that airs the New York Mets at the end of this month!

Heading into the year, it seemed like this might be the season the Mets would achieve World Series glory for the first time in over three decades. Well, we’re not even a quarter of the way through the season, but it’s already pretty clear that’s not going to be the case.

The baseball season is a marathon, not a sprint, and a lot will surely change over the next 142 games for the New York Mets. Still, 20 games is enough of a sample size to at least have some observations for how things are going so far…
