DTF St. Louis is a show that I feel pretty mixed about. On one hand, it has some clear positives and aspects of the miniseries that I really enjoy. On the other, the series definitely has some ways in which it’s lacking.

This month, we’ll take a look at three films, one a couple years old and two newer releases. Two of the three are well worth your time!

11/22/63, a 2011 novel by Stephen King, might be one of the most meh quality books that I’ve ever read. The book contains elements of multiple genres, with science fiction parts, romance, drama, and certainly mystery/thriller aspects. It isn’t the type of horror novel you’d typically associate with the name Stephen King.

They say crime doesn’t pay. And it usually doesn’t (because you will eventually get caught and go to prison). But what crime does do is make for an entertaining movie genre.

Spy shows are really hard to do well. Most times they end up being totally mediocre (something like Amazon Prime’s Jack Ryan series). These sorts of shows tend to be watchable, but not truly top-notch TV. So, it was a total shock to me just how great the first two seasons of The Agency are.

This July, we’ll take a look at three independent, low-budget films. Two are horror movies that performed far better than anyone expected at the box office. The third is a romantic crime thriller. All three are worth considering as now streaming titles to watch.

The Red Rising science fiction trilogy is comprised of (as you might’ve guessed) three novels by Pierce Brown. Originally published in 2014, the first book, also titled Red Rising, was well-received and appeared on best seller lists at the time of its release.

Sometimes horror movies take off and become major successes despite relatively small production budgets. Two of the most impressive films at the box office in 2026 fall into that category: Obsession and Backrooms. But what about quality horror movies that don’t take off the same way?

From is a show that seems to be on a slight downward trajectory in terms of quality since its first couple of seasons. It remains totally watchable, but my patience for the show has grown a little bit thin.

Whether you’re in the mood for horror, a war drama based on a true story, or a lighthearted musical comedy, this roundup features three films that are all worth watching.

Though horror and comedy are fairly popular genre combinations, it’s quite hard to successfully blend the two and create a movie or show that’s both genuinely frightening and, at other times, laugh-out-loud funny. I think that for the first few episodes of Widow’s Bay, the show is able to expertly combine the two.

The Man in the High Castle is a four season, 40-episode series that was released on Amazon between early 2015 and the end of 2019. It’s a show with a great concept that’s loosely based on a 1962 Philip K. Dick novel.

Since finishing Robin Hobb’s masterful Realm of the Elderlings books, I’ve been searching for another great fantasy series to read. Leigh Bardugo is a fantasy writer who has written a large number of books in a shared fantasy world, so I was curious to give a couple of her novels a try.

Mind-bending movies are some of my favorite types of films. In some cases, they force viewers to question what’s real and actually going on. In other instances, a story can be mind-bending through the ideas or concepts it presents.

The historical drama has always been one of my favorite TV genres of shows, and since starting this site several years ago, I’ve watched my fair share of series that fall into the category. Here are nine historical drama shows I’d definitely recommend.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is a horror comedy that’s neither scary nor funny. When you consider that I thoroughly enjoyed the movie’s 2019 predecessor, Ready or Not, Ready or Not 2 is a major disappointment.

The Curse of Chalion is a 2001 fantasy novel by Lois McMaster Bujold. While it’s officially the first novel in the author’s World of the Five Gods fantasy series, this 442-page book stands completely on its own and tells a complete story.

Having recently watched and enjoyed Season 1 of The Pitt, I was excited to check out this second season. I’m happy to report that this sophomore outing of the medical drama is on par with that initial season in terms of quality. However, there are a few aspects of the show that prevent it from being truly outstanding.

This roundup of graphic novel reviews features crime stories, ghostly musings, and dark fantasy. Though none of these comics truly miss the mark, all three fail to really stand out as fantastic reads.
