The Silence of the Lambs was released to both critical and commercial acclaim over 20 years ago. How scary is it and how well does it hold up today?

When I decided to watch and review 25 of the best movies ever made, I didn’t know quite what to expect. In the end, I found working on this series to be a very fulfilling undertaking.

It’s time to take a look at the final four movies in this series! The four films we’ll be going over today are quite different from one another, though coincidentally, three of the four were released in the 1950s. Are they worthy of being on Best Film lists so many decades after their releases?

A romance, a Western, and an adventure film are featured in this eighth edition of Reviewing the Best Movies Ever Made. In the Mood for Love is one of only five films in this series to come out after the year 2000, while the other two movies we’ll review here were released in the 1960s.

 It’s that time of year again — that time for the year to be over! I can only hope that 2024 will be filled with as many great movies, TV shows, and video games as this past one was, because when it came to all three categories 2023 really delivered.

Three very different movies from three different eras of cinema are featured in this seventh part of Reviewing the Best Movies Ever Made. Will any of these films score a 9/10 or better, or are they more overrated films that don’t hold up quite as well by today’s standards?

Whether you want some singing (in the rain), some redemption (Shawshank style), or are just looking for a return (perhaps that of a king), you’ve come to the right place.

Each of the three films in this entry came out in the early 2000s, meaning that they’re some of the newer films on our list. While they might’ve all came out around the same time, I definitely felt very differently about each of them in terms of their quality and how well they hold up.

In this edition of Reviewing the Best Movies Ever Made, I’ll take a look at one film from the American Film Institute’s list of the best films ever, one from Sight and Sound’s, and one chosen by the users of the Internet Movie Database.

When I set out to review the best movies ever made in this series, I found that five movies appeared on more than one of the “Best Movies Ever” lists I was using. In this first post, I’ll take a look at three of those films.

Over the next few months, I’ll be watching 25 of the films considered to be the greatest to ever grace the silver screen and giving my opinions on them, along with ratings and thoughts as to how they each hold up in 2023.
