A romance, a Western, and an adventure film are featured in this eighth edition of Reviewing the Best Movies Ever Made. In the Mood for Love is one of only five films in this series to come out after the year 2000, while the other two movies we’ll review here were released in the 1960s.

There are countless movies released every month, but oftentimes it feels like it’s the same generic films coming out over and over again. That’s not the case with any of the three very unique movies we’ll be taking a look at in this first movie review post of 2024.

 It’s that time of year again — that time for the year to be over! I can only hope that 2024 will be filled with as many great movies, TV shows, and video games as this past one was, because when it came to all three categories 2023 really delivered.

As we enter the final month of 2023, let’s review three releases from this year, one major motion picture that’s now streaming, along with a pair of films that recently came out on Netflix.

With All Hallows’ Eve quickly approaching, I decided to rewatch some of the most well-known (and supposedly scariest) horror films ever made. Just how scary are they and how do they hold up by 2023 standards?

This month so far, I’ve watched three new releases: a French movie you probably haven’t heard of, Amazon Prime’s newest horror film (just in time for Halloween), and Tom Cruise’s latest Mission: Impossible blockbuster.

Each of the three films in this entry came out in the early 2000s, meaning that they’re some of the newer films on our list. While they might’ve all came out around the same time, I definitely felt very differently about each of them in terms of their quality and how well they hold up.

In this edition of Reviewing the Best Movies Ever Made, I’ll take a look at one film from the American Film Institute’s list of the best films ever, one from Sight and Sound’s, and one chosen by the users of the Internet Movie Database.

When I set out to review the best movies ever made in this series, I found that five movies appeared on more than one of the “Best Movies Ever” lists I was using. In this first post, I’ll take a look at three of those films.
